Description:
- Perform safety or quality assessments at various constructions sites.
- Review and approve/recommend for approval Contractor safety or quality submittals (ie: Accident Prevention Program, Quality Program, Inspection & Test Plans, etc.).
- Conduct accident investigations or investigate problems/issues relating to the quality of design and construction projects and assist in the resolution of deficiencies and the dissemination of information throughout CPM.
- Conduct trend and statistical analysis of data and provide reports/recommendations for system improvements.
- Perform training functions as may be required (OSHA, track safety stand-downs, safety or quality workshops).
- Function as a technical resource for Quality & Safety Management's information.
- Review and evaluate qualifications of Contractor proposed safety or quality management personnel.
- Contribute to conducting safety or quality audits of in-house construction management to determine their compliance with construction safety or quality policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Provide safety or quality guidance and training to facilitate field progress of the project construction.
- Perform other safety or quality related tasks as may be required to enhance the department's or Contractors' awareness of safety and quality considerations.
- Review project Safe Work Plans or Quality Work Plans.
- Attend Program Area meetings as required.
- Participate at project Qualification and Kick-off meetings as required.
- Participate as a Design Team Member.
- Compile monthly reports on one's activities.

Required Education:
- 2 years of College level study preferred in engineering, fire safety, environmental, occupational safety, mathematics, or related sciences.
- 30 Hour OSHA course in Construction Safety and Health (29 CFR 1926).
- Member American Society of Safety Engineers (optional) or Member American Society for Quality (optional).
- Site Safety Manager Certificate issued by the NYC Department of Buildings (preferred) or American Society for Quality certification as Quality Engineer or Quality Auditor or other applicable quality certification/training (preferred).
Required Experience:
Not less than 5 years of safety or quality related experience in heavy construction or commercial/industrial building industry.
- Statistical analysis and problem solving skills.
- Accident investigation capabilities/experience.
- Knowledgeable of various construction trades/skills ("Competent Person" preferred).
- Knowledgeable of ISO 9001 Quality Management Standard requirements.
- Track safety trained and/or experience working along railroad/rail transit Rights-of-Way.
- OSHA Construction S&H Outreach trainer.
