JOB SUMMARY
- The primary function of this position is to perform component research, component selection, obsolescence management, documentation of electronic components and development of component standards for high reliability product designs.
- Will be responsible for bridging the gap between engineering, purchasing, production and vendors. In addition, this position provides production engineering support to the Inventory Control and Wiring Departments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide Component Support - 50%
- Control, develop and standardize electronic component selection, application and specifications.
- Interface with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality and suppliers to address component issues.
- Locate suppliers and determine economic order quantities for components.
- Assists in the resolution of supplier problems and provides follow-up and expediting of supplier deliveries.
Handle Component obsolescence - 20%
- Manage component obsolescence, track part life cycles and plan for component end of life.
- Evaluate component substitutions, qualify alternative parts and identify high risk components.
- Locate suitable replacements for obsolete or long lead time parts. Assist with the testing of replacements when necessary.
Provide Production Engineering Support to Wiring and Inventory Control - 20%
- Help manage inventory levels through analysis of purchasing practices and ERP parameter settings.
- Assist in the development of wire harnesses for new and/or existing products.
Failure Analysis - 5%
- Provide support during component and assembly failure analysis.
Additional Functions - 5%
- Serve on various internal committees and/or task forces to assist the company in various programs and/or special projects, i.e. Internal ISA Auditor, IPC Trainer, Outsourcing, Capital Expenditures and Continuous Improvement projects.
