Mechanical Engineer

This position provides computer-aided design (Solidworks/Mechanical Desktop) and detail drafting to new product development and standard product support engineering activities.  This position involves refining conceptual designs and ideas and converting them to finished design and detailed drawings.  This also involves continuous improvement in optimum design and manufacturing efficiency.

Summary of essential job functions

1.  CAD design & documentation

• Provide CAD layout and assembly designs for new products in cooperation with a design team consisting of engineers, other designers and R&D people.
• Produce CAD conceptual layout with practical field experience and knowledge of advanced HVAC.
• Revise and redraw, as required, production drawings of existing standard products.
• Complete ECRs, by utilizing PDM and other tools.

2.  Development project activities

• Work with Vendors, Purchasing, Technicians and Manufacturing as required to produce designed products.
• Communicate with manufacturing and suppliers to develop cost effective parts designs.
• Release drawings to manufacturing and facilitate the manufacturing progress throughout the pre-production cycle.
• Identify design activities and solve problems.
• Perform basic thermal design analysis.

3.  Project management & leadership

• Assist R&D lab manager and test engineer in completion of test plans.

4.  Other duties as assigned, such as field technical support as needed.
